The proprietor was very courteous and the building is a nice old Yorkshire stone house of Victorian date with some character. The grounds are extensive and it is off the road and therefore, free of traffic noise. There was ample parking
The TV didn't work (or we couldn't work it out). The bathroom was so small it was difficult to enter. There was no water or drinking glasses in the room. The jug kettle was tiny and difficuly to fill. The carpet was stained. The double bed was quite small. The stair carpet was worn.
Comfort and cleanliness of room. Friendlyness of staff. Location. Will definely use again & will recommend.
We would have had breakfast if there had been more choice
The heating system was out several times and the wifi was also out several times.
It was clean warm and we had a good nights stay
apathetic staff, very dated decor, very poor furnishings
It was across from Spen bowling and cricket club,we were going to an audience with, there so was very convenient for us
Everything was ok
Beautiful grounds, feels like your in the country but 5 mins from small village of cleckheaton that has some shops, bars & restaurants. Also 15- 20 mins to Bradford/ Leeds city centres. Was good value for room only, cheap & cheerful ok for 1 night. .
The hotel looked like some renovation had been started but not finished. Walls were newly painted but furniture was older but serviceable. The bed was a little hard & squeaked. The bathroom was small but again serviceable but there was some mould behind the shower door. Not sure if you can still have breakfast here, it was not mentioned when we checked in & there was no sign of it when we checked out but we may well have missed it as it was 10am, there are some good cafes (E.g the crown cafe) in cleckheaton that do good value breakfasts or there is always weatherspoons. You get what you pay for & for this reason I would stop here for a night again. There is a lot of potential waiting to be unlocked.
The night porter made you feel very welcome. He was always ready to offer anything you needed or wanted. The lodge was in a lovely area will stay there again as I have family in the area.
The room wasn,t cleaned at all while I stayed there 4 days in total. The towels were not changed so the towels were really dirty when we left.Ithink the breakfast was a bit on the pricey side as all we had was coffee and toast and they wanted 3.50 a day. Also I had to ask for milk in my room to make my self a coffee was only given two little portions from the young girl on the desk and it was as if she couldn,t be bothered to help anyone. Also one morning she came down in her pjs thats not what you expect to see
At £35 it was a fair price but I could have stayed down the roda at a travel lodge for £40, which I would have done if I would have known that the hotel was in such a state of repair due to referbishment! The staff on arrival could give me little information about the amenaties as he had only just started. The hotel had not picked my booking up off the internet so were not expecting me! It would have been better if when booking on line I had been told of the state that the hotel was in.
The room was nice and surrounding countryside pretty
The hot water in room 5 was luke warm and the shower did not work. The breakfast was delayed due to staff not turning up which delayed my start. The chairs were very dusty and cuttlery dirty. £7.00 for uncooked mushrooms and the cheapest sausages is not value for money. I will not be using this hotel again.
Convenient for visiting family. Very helpful young member of staff (only member of staff!!) in morning.
Empty!! No brochure in room re: breakfast times etc. No music, or ambience.. Silver-fish in shower. Strange reception area at end or corridor - kitchen door open alongside revealing greasy equipment
Lovely position and could be a lovely hotel
We had stayed here 2 years ago and understood from the web site that it had been refurbished but it hadn't. Everything was clean but the rooms were shabby
The staff member who booked us in, and who also seemed to do everything else, was very friendly & helpful.
It's a lovely building but the interior is in need of a refurb. We actually have stayed there before a few years ago, and the rooms are looking 'worn' & 'drab' which is a shame as it used to be a nice hotel.
The stay was pleasant and peaceful. They did not do evening meals but directed us to an inn across the road which was very good.
The staff were pleasant and helpful
bed dipped in middle, masking tape on wall, floors creaked as passer bys were going to the staff room as we were next to it. overall did not like, that disliked my wife and i went home-
